What A Fool Believes Live Taking You Into The Weekend

Happy Friday, folks.

On the final day of this week, we're gonna start the weekend off right with another live rendition of a classic dad jam.

This week's edition: The Doobie Brothers, What A Fool Believes,  live from California circa 1981.

This song hits a home run every single time. And this live performance is further proof for that theory.

The storytelling in this track is phenomenal. A classic tell-tale of a casual guy chasin' some tail. Only to be used and abused throughout the process of the chase. A story as old as time.

The songwriting used in this track to tell the story may be even better.

Combine the songwriting & the storytelling with Michael McDonald's voice while he's ripping the piano; shit son, you got yourself a hit.

What a fool believes, he sees.

Ain't that the truth.

Simple yet such profound lyrics.

The wise man has the power..... to reason away

Simple advice that's hard to follow.

What seems to be is always better than nothing... And nothing at all

The idea of these lyrics, in my opinion, gives a great glimpse into the way a man's mind thinks.

Especially when a man is trying to get romantically involved with a female.

It's the chase of uncertainty that keeps the engine revvin'. The chase that keeps the hope alive.

The hope that maybe something might happen.

Probably won't, but it might.

It's all about the chase.

Unfortunately, the protagonist in "What A Fool Believes" didn't know when to tap out of the race.

This track can be a great lesson for any schmuckos out there who don't know how to catch a clue in the world of romance.

That's the beauty of music.

Sometimes you'll listen to a lyric in a song, and it hits you in a way that's hard to explain.

It's an inner-body sensation that syncs with the mind.

You'll hear a lyric, relate it to what's going on, and bam!

At that moment, the world makes sense.

What a fool believes, he sees
Have a great weekend.

(You look like you need a doobie, brother.)
